fighting the shadows

Sometimes taking outfit pictures on a sunny Florida day can be tough. While the weather may be perfect for a picnic, it certainly is not ideal for picture-taking. The background is beautiful but the harsh shadows that the sun creates can be problematic. (So I apologize for the shadowy pics.)

This was a super simple outfit and something that could be worn pretty much all year round. This white/cream shirt is loose and the perfect basic tee to wear with everything… and I mean everything, I have already worn it a ton and I just got it. It was only $10 at H&M and I should really go buy it in every color because it’s already becoming my new fav.

librarian chic

Geez, I’m so sick of pants lately. I go to my closet and instantly get frustrated because it’s “winter” and I’m supposed to be wearing pants, but I’m sooooo bored with them. So this was my attempt at a winter skirt outfit. Luckily it was pretty warm during the day and I was able to take my jacket off for some of the pictures.

I have a rule about midi skirts and that you can’t be too covered up, hence the title of this post. The reasoning being midi skirts already have a lot of fabric and the look can go down the librarian/schoolmarm route if you’re not careful. However, I think this look turned out quite well. No librarian I know wears not pink heels. 😉

leopard matches everything

I’ve been trying to avoid open-toed shoes lately (considering it’s winter and all) BUT it’s 75 degrees here today and I just got a pedicure so today called for open toed shoes. The rest of the outfit came together easily and I topped off my look with this fun leopard clutch. I love mixing patterns, especially when one of those patterns is leopard!

outfit of the day: one shift dress, two ways

I bought this dress to wear to my boyfriend’s holiday party (left). I instantly loved the color and texture of the dress, but I didn’t know if I could pull off a shift dress. I figured the boyfriend would hate it, because of the lack of shape to the dress, but it turned out to be a hit.

I ended up re-styling it with this plaid blazer and a different pair of shoes and it completely changed up the look. The best thing is, this dress was only $25.

Ok so get this… I got this adorable blazer for $10 at Target this past weekend! Yeah, they practically paid me to take it off their hands for them, and I was all to happy to do it. I love when I find really great items for at super affordable prices. It’s a win-win all around.
